They're both accepted Jim. You're right in the sense that the way you put it is more proper; but at the same time your way is being redundant. By saying manifestED you're already declaring that it's past tense. Even though it sounds less formal, there isn't really a need to declare the tense twice. :-P Not that Los knew anything about that and thought that through before he just started typing away... but I still give him credit for using the word "manifested." rofl

I suppose you could argue that "is being" would be the redundancy rather than "being redundant" since it would be two forms of the verb "To be." But I don't think I've ever come across any type of English expert that has b2een critical about that so idk. I guess it's just up to personal opinion.
